About: This climb marked a leap in hard aid climbing standards. It is steep, clean and outrageously exposed on the Shield headwall. During the first ascent there was one single thin crack that only took Rurp’s to protect, Charlie Porter placed 35 Rurp’s in a row! ”We were definitely trying to push aid at that time, trying to see what could be done” .
FA: Charlie Porter & Gary Bocarde 1972. Current bigwall rating: VI 5.9 A2+/A3-
